Getting Started

How to read this edition

The Mahābhārata is vast. This edition gives you several ways to reach exactly the part you want — browse the books, look up a person, follow a story, or jump straight to a unit. Here is how each path works.

Browse the Parvas

Open the Navigation Tree and choose Parvas. Flip through the eighteen books on the shelf, open one to see its chapters, pick a chapter to list its units, then open a unit to read.

Look up a Person

Choose Characters to search people by name. Each profile lists the incidents they take part in, with direct links into the relevant units of the text.

Follow a Story

Choose Stories to explore curated reading paths — a category, then a story, opening straight into the reading view.

Search

Choose Search (or the floating search button) to find any Parva, chapter, unit, person or story by name — no need to remember a UID. It also lets you resume what you were last reading.
